At 2:12am on May 1st, Harrison Riley Monheit was born. We didn't know if he was going to be a Harrison or a Hazel, and we were both surprised.
I went back and forth over the last months, really hoping for a boy, and convincing myself that having a girl would be ok too.
And it's more than just the "dads always bond better with boys" thing. I'm and older brother, and of we decide to try to have another one, I wanted to first one a boy to serve as a "protector" of some sort.
Also, I don't communicate with my older brother any more, and although he has recently married(Facebook background check), I really don't think he is having kids any time soon. He would be the only other person besides myself to be able to carry on our lineage of Monheits. Besides my sister, I have two girl first cousins, (besides other reasons I won't get in to right now)they wouldn't be able to pass on the name to a child.
So I am happy the Monheit name is secure through my son, and possibly through children of his own someday. I know that is way ahead of myself, but sometimes it's good to think about the future.
I'll make a couple more posts over the next few days while sitting around the hospital. Since Lauren had to have a C-Section, she has to spend an extra day. So I'm right here with her. With the occasional run home to take care of Nacho. Stay tuned for more stories!
Kiss your momma, you babies, and your babies momma's!!
